(Old) Dungeon - The Rogue Wraith Fortress

The Rogue Wraith Fortress

The "dungeon" is a key component of Aetherdale's gameplay loop. Dungeons are instances of castles, caves, actual dungeons, and so on, each with a series of boss fights and their minions, that the player can fight through to receive large quantities of loot. In addition, the sheer concentration of combat in these encounters makes them great for steeling yourself against challenges yet to come.

The Rogue Wraith Fortress is the first dungeon in Aetherdale.

Story

The awoken wraiths (the ones controlled by players) have no memory of what happened before their slumber. Following rumors of more of their kind, they find themselves at a long-forgotten stronghold at the foot of a mountain, crawling with wraiths who adorn black cloaks. These strange new wraiths are not keen to talk, and will fight with all of their ferocity to keep intruders out of their castle.

Fight through the depths of the Rogue Wraith Fortress to learn more about the origin of the wraiths, and acquire a sinister Idol form as dark and dangerous as the rogue wraiths themselves.

Boss Fights

The Rogue Wraith Fortress contains two bosses - the Blade Spider, and the Rogue Wraith Guardian.

The Blade Spider is a towering deadly construct piloted by a rogue wraith. Choosing your strikes wisely is the key to felling this goliath, and those that do so will receive components of the vehicle piloted by this wraith.

The Rogue Wraith Guardian is the leader of this order of wraiths. It wields vicious melee attacks and potent shadow magic to decimate those that approach it. Those that yet succeed in dethroning it will emerge victorious from the Rogue Wraith Fortress, with newfound knowledge and power.

Rewards

The rogue wraith minions drop gold, dark essence (a material used for upgrading dark-element Idols) and low-level weapons that players can equip their wraiths with.

The Blade Spider, in addition to large quantities of gold and dark essence, has the chance to drop components of the blade spider vehicle - a lethal work of engineering that players can employ for their own purposes once they've assembled it.

The Rogue Wraith Guardian, again alongside large quantities of gold and dark essence, can reward victorious players with Aetherdale's first Idol form - Shade

Shade
Shade is a fragile, but deadly Idol form meant to be played in hit-and-run fashion. When the player transforms into Shade, they can become invisible, before rending through unsuspecting foes with Shade's dual dark-energy blades.
